What is Not Considered Preventive Care?
Some health services are not included in preventive care, such as diagnostic care or treatment, bloodwork, sexually transmitted infection testing, depending on your insurance plan. But luckily, you can get all types of family care at EXCEED.
Preventive care includes routine health services, such as annual physical care exams, vaccines, well-child care, medical tests and screenings.
Preventive care includes health services in which your provider is checking up your overall health. Diagnostic care includes health services in which your provider is looking if something is wrong, often based on the results of a preventive test or screening.
For example, a radiologist may ask for a follow-up mammogram for a patient. This follow-up is to check for something that may have been detected during the preventive mammogram. It’s diagnostic, and not covered under preventive care.
